Born

Alexander Pavlov Christoff was born in Sofia.

Education

He studied physics, chemistry and mathematics in the University of Jena (1892-1893) and Leipzig (1893-1896).

He defended PhD teses at the University of Leipzig (1896).

Research

Alexander Christoff made his experimental research on the boundary of Physics and Chamistry for the first time in Bulgaria.

Professional experience:

He was Professor on Experimental Physics at the Sofia University (1909-1937).

Professor Alexander Christoff was dean of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at the Sofia University (1922-1923).

He became coressponding member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences since 1921.

Teaching activities:

Alexander Christov lectured experimental physics courses (1909-1937).
