Biography
Ruscho Georgiev Raynov
(06.09.1886–29.10.1965)
Born: Ruscho Raynov was born in Sliven. Milka Brakalova Raynova (21.03.1897–1978) from the family Tupchileshtovi was his wife. She graduated on physics and mathematics from the Sofia University (1915–1920), and had specialisation on mathematics from the University of Berlin (1922–1923)

Education:

Ruscho Raynov studied physics and mathematics at the Sofia university (1904–1907), Zagreb (1907–1908) and Fribourg, Switzerland (1911–1912)

He specialised in meteorology from University of Vienna (1912), Berlin (1922–1923) and Paris (1927)

Professional Experience:

At the Sofia University, Ruscho Raynov was associate professor (14.05.1920–08.04.1926), extraordinary professor (08.04.1926–02.09.1946) and professor of Meteorology (02.09.1946–1958)

He was dean of the Faculty of physics and mathematics twice (1933–1934 и 1936–1937)

Teaching activities:

Ruscho Raynov initiated new university courses on: "meteorology" (1920), "meteorology and climatology" (1923), "meteorological and climatological conditions in Bulgaria" (1921), "practical meteorology" (1921), "dynamical meteorology" (1921), "meteorological optics" (1921), "meteorological instruments" (1923), "atmospheric optics" (1921), and "atmospheric electricity" (1921) at the Sofia University. For the first time in Bulgaria, he introduced lectures on: "seismic waves" (1930) and "geophysics" (1935).
