Rousse is the city where most of the first events of national modernization took place. In the nineteenth century the city became a pioneer in a series of innovations in the country: the opening of the first Bulgarian printing house, the first model farm, the first Bulgarian railroad connecting Ruse with Varna, the first Bulgarian weather service, the first technical school and technical society, the first professional teachers' club, the first insurance agency, the first chamber of commerce and industry, the first inland navigation service on the Danube, the first telephone, the first moving picture show, the first Bulgarian newspaper, the first map of geography. The article presents data for physics education in Rousse, started in 1870 with introduction of new curriculum and programs, developed from committee put in charge of municipality. During the years many peoples are connected with spreading of physics knowledge and physics education. The most outstanding, with contribution to physics education not only in Rousse, are: Stefan Lafchiev, Lazar Simidchiev, Dr. Mihail Georgiev, Ruska Dragneva and Prof. Stojan Petrov.
