Prof. Dr. G. Stratan is physicist, a university professor in the history of science in Romania. He graduated of the Faculty of Physics of the University of Bucharest (1965) and PhD of the same university (1974). He was a researcher at the Institute of Atomic Physics in Magurele (since 1968). Бил е председател на научния съвет на Института по физика и ядрена енергетика в Мъгуреле (2000 – 2003).

He was a professor and researcher in the Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics at the Joinr Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna (1970 – 1975, and 2013) and member of its Scientific Council (2003). He becomes Doctor Honoris Causa of the Unified Institute of Nuclear Research – JINR in Dubna (2014)

Professor Stratan headed the chair of History and Metodology of Science at the University of Cluj-Napoca (2003 – 2008). He prepared exhibition about 400 years anniversary of Galileo's instrumental astronomical observations (2008). Prepared on five languages the project has visited six countries.

Prof. Stratan translated many books with big commecial success since 1984. He has been awarded with golden medal Primo Rovis from International fondation in Trieste (1994).
