Born in Kunino Vilage, Vratsa District

Education

He gradueted from the Technological Institute of Saint Petersburg (1952)

Became Ph.D. (1970) and Sc.D. (01.04.1986)

Research

Low temperature physics is the area of his research. He investigated superconductivity properties and materials in the Institute of Solid State Physics BAS

He was a guest researcher in Japan and USABrookhaven National Laboratory (19841990), and Texas Superconducting Super Collider (19901996)

In Japan, Veselin Kovachev was a guest professor in the National Laboratory for High Energy Physics and the National Institute for Fusion Science

Professional experience

Elected fo Associate Professor (1977)

He was deputy director of the Institute of Solid State Physics (19781988)

Veselin Kovachev was creator and head of the Laboratory for supperconductivity and super conducting materials in the Institute of Solid State Physics - BAS (19882003)

V. Kovachev was member of the Scientific Councel of the International Laboratory of High Magnetic Fields and Low Temperature in Wroclaw, Poland and headed Scientific Councel of the Institute of Solid State Physics
