Education Graduated the Sofia University (1961)

P. Raychev was Ph.D. student in the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, Russia (1970 – 1972). There, he prepared his thesis entitled "On the Algebraic Methods for the Description of the Deformed Even- Even Nuclei", and defended it in 1973

He defended his Sc.D. thesis on "Group Theoretical Methods in Nuclear Theory" (1991)

Research

His fields of research was nuclear, molecular and theoretical physics

Peter Raychev was one of the founders of a new group "Theoretical approach in the structure of atomic nuclei"

Professional experience

P. Raychev was an assistant professor in the Faculty of Physics at the Sofia University (1961 – 1969)

He was appointed from the Institute of Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in Sofia and worked there untill his death (1973 – 2004). He became full professor in 1992

Publications

P. Raychev has more than 100 scientific papers. He wrote one university textbook, 14 books, and more than 150 articles popularizing nuclear, elementary particle physics and cosmology
