Biography
Leon Izrael Mitrani
(1921 – 2001)

Born in Sofia

Education

He studied physics at the Sofia University (1944-1948)

He made cosmic rays investigation in his PhD as a student of E. Karamichailova (1952) and biophisics in Moskow (1975)

Mitrani specialized cosmic rays in Hungary (1953)

Profesional experiance

He was assistant at the Sofia University (1952-1954), associate professor (1954-1957; 1957-1961)

Leon Mitrani headed cosmic rays laboratory at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Institute of Physics (1954) and Musala cosmic rays station (1959)

He was head of Nuclear physics department at the University of Plovdiv (1963-1968)

He was professor at the BAS Institute of Phisiology in Sofia (1968-1989)

Teaching activities

He has university courses nuclear physics, cosmic rays, biophysics and experimental psichology at Universities in Sofia, Plovdiv and New Bulgarian University

Research

Mitrani worked in the field of cosmic rays, Mossbauer effect and psychophysiology

He constructed new cosmic rays counter and detector about cosmic rays station on Musala mount

He studies cosmic rays absorption curves and their angular distribution
